Ejike Uzoenyi, former Super Eagles winger and ex-Rangers International player, has confidently predicted that Rangers will clinch the 2025/2026 NPFL title, a victory that would see them equal Enyimba’s record of nine domestic league championships. The Coal City Flying Antelopes currently lead the NPFL standings with 59 points, just two points ahead of second-placed Rivers United, who have 57 points, with only two matches remaining in the season. Uzoenyi, who won the NPFL title during his playing days with Enyimba, believes Rangers are in the best form and spirit they’ve ever been in, making them the clear favourites to lift the trophy.
Rangers strengthened their title bid with a decisive 2–0 away victory over Bayelsa United in Yenagoa during Matchday 36. The win further solidified their position at the top of the table and sent a strong message to their rivals. Despite Rivers United’s favourable fixture schedule — facing Wikki Tourists away and then hosting Katsina United at home — Uzoenyi remains unconvinced that the home advantage will be enough to shift the balance. He emphasized that the team’s momentum, unity, and mental strength are the real driving forces behind their success.
In contrast, Rangers face tougher challenges in their final two games: hosting Bendel Insurance in Enugu this weekend and then traveling to Lagos to play Ikorodu City on the final day. Ikorodu City, fighting to secure a top-three finish, will be a determined opponent. However, Uzoenyi dismissed concerns over the away fixture, insisting that location or opponent does not matter as long as the officiating is fair and impartial. He stressed that the outcome should be determined purely by performance on the pitch, not external factors.
“Everyone here (in Enugu) is anticipating it. The atmosphere here is electrifying,” Uzoenyi said, reflecting the growing excitement among fans and club officials. He added that the players, coaches, and entire staff are united in their mission to bring the title back to Enugu. “They are in the best form and spirit of their lives, and I believe they are ready for it. God willing, it will happen.”
Uzoenyi also called for transparency and fairness in officiating during the final matches, stating that if the referees uphold the integrity of the game, Rangers will emerge victorious. His confidence underscores the belief that Rangers have not only the quality but also the determination to overcome any obstacle in their path. As the NPFL season reaches its climax, all eyes are on Enugu and Port Harcourt, where two of Nigeria’s most storied clubs will battle for football supremacy. The final two matches promise drama, tension, and a fitting conclusion to what has been hailed as one of the toughest and most competitive NPFL seasons in recent memory.
