Actor Ikechukwu Nweke Reveals Colon Cancer Battle, Seeks Support After Spending Over ₦15 Million

Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Nweke has revealed he is battling colon cancer and is urgently seeking financial support to continue his treatment, having already spent over ₦15 million since his diagnosis in 2025. In an emotional video shared on Instagram titled “My Cancer Journey,” the actor disclosed the severity of his condition and appealed to Nigerians for help to cover the rising medical costs. He emphasized that despite his efforts to manage the illness privately, the financial burden has become too heavy for him and his family to bear alone.

Nweke explained that his treatment has included chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medical tests, scans, and medications, all of which have contributed to the significant expenses. He expressed deep gratitude to his family, friends, and colleagues who have stood by him during this challenging time. Among those he specifically thanked are fellow actors Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, and Ebele Okaro, who have offered both financial and emotional support throughout his health journey.

The actor stated that his doctors have advised him to continue with the next phase of treatment to maximize his chances of full recovery. However, he admitted that he can no longer afford the costs without external assistance. In his video, Nweke said, “Good morning, good afternoon and good evening from wherever you are watching me from, I was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. I have been trying so hard to manage it privately. I have spent a lot of money and my family members have contributed a whole lot. People close to me like Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, Ebele Okaro, among others have also been supportive.”

He continued, “Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery. I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.” Nweke made a heartfelt plea for public support, saying, “Today, I’m humbly asking for your help. No amount is too small. Your support, your prayers, and even sharing this video can make a real difference in my fight for life.”

The actor remains hopeful and determined to overcome the disease. He urged Nigerians to contribute in any way they can, whether through donations, prayers, or spreading awareness. His story highlights the financial strain many face when battling serious illnesses in Nigeria, especially without comprehensive health insurance or government support. As Nweke continues his fight, his appeal resonates with many who see the importance of community solidarity in times of crisis.
