The remains of late Nollywood star Alexx Ekubo have arrived in Abia State ahead of his wake-keep and burial rites, drawing family members, friends, colleagues, and admirers together to honour his memory.
The actor’s body was received at his father’s residence in Arochukwu, where an atmosphere of grief and remembrance filled the community as mourners gathered to bid him a final farewell.
Videos shared across social media captured touching scenes from the occasion, showing loved ones paying tribute to the late actor, whose death came as a shock to many within Nigeria’s entertainment industry and beyond.
A number of prominent personalities attended the wake-keep held on the evening of June 17, 2026. Among those present were actress Ini Edo, actor IK Ogbonna, fashion entrepreneur Yomi Casual, reality television personality Venita Akpofure, content creator Nons Miraj, actor Mike Godson, and several other close friends and associates.
The event featured heartfelt tributes, prayers, and moments of reflection as attendees celebrated Alexx Ekubo’s life, achievements, and contributions to Nollywood.
According to the funeral programme, the funeral service and reception are scheduled for today, June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
Following the ceremony, the late actor will be interred at his family home located at 7 Ekubo-Okwareke Avenue, Aziukwukwa Ujari Village, Arochukwu.
