Osun NURTW Boss Cries Out Over Arrest Threats from Gov. Adeleke, Commissioner Over Untrue Allegations

The acting chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osun State, Kazeem Oyewale, has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, of orchestrating a plot to arrest and kill him over false allegations linked to an alleged assassination attempt on the governor’s son, B-Red. Oyewale, who is also known as Kas Asiri Eniba, made the accusations during a press interview in Osogbo on Monday, denying any involvement in the incident that reportedly occurred in the Oke-Fia area, just metres from the Osun Government House. He claimed the allegations are part of a broader campaign of harassment and misinformation aimed at silencing him and his supporters ahead of the upcoming election cycle.

Alimi had previously stated in a public statement that B-Red narrowly escaped an assassination attempt carried out by hoodlums allegedly led by Oyewale. However, Oyewale dismissed these claims as baseless and politically motivated, asserting that he has no connection to the incident. He emphasized that he is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and questioned the logic of blaming him for actions tied to the Accord party, which is aligned with the ruling party. “What is my business with Accord? Any time something goes wrong within their party, they will blame me for it,” he said.

Oyewale also raised concerns about the unresolved murder of his younger brother, who was killed in November 2022, and whose body remains unclaimed. He alleged that the same forces behind his brother’s death are now targeting him, using false accusations to justify threats and possible violence. “Those after me killed my younger brother and now they are alleging that I am behind the destruction of billboards. It does not sound logical,” he stated, adding that the government’s tactics resemble those used during the 2022 election period.

In a bid to protect himself and his followers, Oyewale called on President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to intervene. He warned that if no action is taken, he will pursue legal redress through the courts. “I want to call the attention of President Bola Tinubu, the IGP, and Nigerians. They should come to my aid because the governor and Kolapo Alimi have called for my arrest over untrue allegations, and they are even threatening me,” he said.

Oyewale urged his supporters not to fear, noting that the government’s attempts to intimidate them through mass arrests and false narratives will not succeed this time. He stressed that the tactics used in 2022, including the indiscriminate detention of NURTW members, will not be repeated. As tensions rise in Osun State ahead of elections, this development underscores the deepening political rivalry and the increasing use of accusations as tools of political warfare. The situation remains under close watch by security agencies and civil society groups.
