A tragic wild elephant attack in Innayin Community, Oyo State, has resulted in one death and left another person missing, prompting an urgent security response. The incident occurred on Thursday, 23rd April 2026, around 3:30 pm, when the animal suddenly invaded the community, causing widespread panic among residents. The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the event through its spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, who detailed the swift mobilisation of security operatives, local vigilantes, and hunters following a distress call.
Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered the lifeless body of Ibrahim Tijani, a 45-year-old man, in a nearby bush with injuries consistent with an animal attack. The police also reported that Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin, a 50-year-old resident, is missing after encountering the same elephant during the incident.
