The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced a one-day orientation workshop for the four newly promoted clubs ahead of the 2026/27 season, set to take place on Friday, 26 June 2026. The event aims to familiarize Sporting Lagos, Ranchers Bees, Inter Lagos, and Doma United with the operational demands and regulations of Nigeria’s top-tier football league. Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi confirmed the initiative, emphasizing the importance of proper induction for clubs transitioning to the elite level.
In a formal letter sent to the promoted clubs, Owumi extended congratulations on their achievement and invited them to an interactive seminar designed to educate and prepare them for the challenges of NPFL competition. The workshop will serve as a critical step in ensuring these clubs meet the league’s standards in governance, finance, infrastructure, and administration. Representatives from each club are required to attend, with at least two officials present—ideally the Chairman and General Manager—to fully engage with the session.
The NPFL will provide attendees with comprehensive copies of the league’s frameworks and rules, including detailed guidance on club licensing regulations. A key focus will be on financial health, ensuring clubs can meet contractual obligations with players, staff, and other stakeholders. The session will also cover infrastructure requirements and administrative procedures necessary for sustained participation in the top flight.
This orientation marks the first of several pre-season activities planned by the NPFL to prepare for the upcoming campaign. The league’s management sees the workshop as essential for fostering compliance, transparency, and professionalism among new entrants. By equipping clubs with the knowledge and tools needed, the NPFL aims to maintain the integrity and competitiveness of Nigeria’s premier football competition.
The event underscores the league’s commitment to structured development and long-term sustainability. As the 2026/27 season approaches, the NPFL’s proactive measures are expected to strengthen the foundation for a more organized and professional football environment across the country. This initiative also reflects broader efforts to elevate Nigerian football standards and ensure that all participating clubs are fully aligned with the league’s vision and operational expectations.
