NPFL: Kwara United Coach Ashifat Reveals New Season Plans and Team Strategy

Kwara United head coach Ashifat Suleiman has unveiled the club’s transfer plans for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, confirming the team’s intention to sign 10 new players during the ongoing off-season recruitment period. The Harmony Boys, who narrowly avoided relegation last season by finishing 16th in the league, are aiming to build a stronger and more competitive squad. Ashifat made the announcement after a training session at the KFA pitch in Ilorin, where he also confirmed that 20 players from the previous season’s squad have been retained.

The coach emphasized that the new signings are carefully selected to add value to the team, with some players already invited to join the squad as training progresses. He assured fans that they will have the opportunity to see the new recruits during upcoming training sessions. “We have identified players that will add value to the club, and some invited players will join us as training progresses. Supporters will have the opportunity to see them during our training sessions,” Ashifat told the club’s media.

Kwara United will officially unveil both the retained players and new signings to the public at the appropriate time, according to the coach. He urged fans and stakeholders to exercise patience during this process, explaining that prematurely revealing outgoing players could hinder their chances of securing opportunities elsewhere. “I want to implore our supporters, fans and stakeholders to be patient with the technical crew in revealing retained and outgoing players. Revealing those leaving may affect their chances of pursuing opportunities elsewhere, while the retained players will be unveiled at the appropriate time,” he said.

Ashifat also called on the club’s supporters to continue their unwavering backing, stressing that their support will be crucial to the team’s ambitions in the upcoming season. He expressed confidence that with strong fan engagement and a reinforced squad, Kwara United can achieve better results in the 2026/27 NPFL campaign. The club’s focus remains on stability, growth, and improved performance on the pitch.

As the off-season recruitment continues, Kwara United’s preparations are gaining momentum, with the technical crew working diligently to assemble a balanced and competitive team. The club’s efforts reflect a clear intent to build on last season’s survival and push for higher finishes in the coming campaign. With new signings on the horizon and a solid core of retained players, the Harmony Boys are positioning themselves for a stronger showing in the 2026/27 NPFL season.
