The body of former House of Representatives member and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Abba Anas Adamu, has been released to his family by kidnappers following the payment of a ₦50 million ransom, marking a tragic end to a high-profile abduction in Jigawa State. Adamu, who was kidnapped alongside another ADC politician, Ali Tukur Gantsa, was found dead after being held captive for several days. The two men were abducted on Wednesday while travelling from Kano to Abuja for an ADC party congress. Gunmen intercepted their vehicle near Jere, a town in Jigawa State, and forced them into a nearby forest, where they were held hostage.
According to sources close to the family, the abductors initially demanded ₦200 million, but after prolonged negotiations, the ransom was reduced to ₦50 million.
