Enyimba technical adviser Emmanuel Deutsch has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a positive result against Doma United in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Three fixture at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe on Saturday. The People’s Elephant, who suffered a defeat to Niger Tornadoes in their opening game of the season, are aiming to bounce back with a strong performance and kickstart their campaign on the right note.
Deutsch believes the match will reveal a new, improved face of Enyimba as the squad prepares to show greater focus and determination. He emphasized that the team has trained diligently and is mentally prepared for the challenge ahead. “I think that this game tomorrow will show a sign, a new face of Enyimba. For tomorrow’s game, we are calm for the game, the pitch will show this reality,” Deutsch told the club’s media.
The tactician also praised the warm reception the team received in Gombe, highlighting the good accommodation and lack of major distractions during their stay. However, he voiced concern over internal issues affecting the club, particularly negative reports circulating on social media and in the press. “If you see everything happening in the papers and on the internet, we can’t imagine the kind of power some people want,” he said, stressing that such distractions could harm player morale.
Deutsch commended Enyimba’s chairman for his unwavering support, noting that he personally contributes resources to ensure players are well-fed and emotionally supported. He mentioned how the chairman helps players dealing with personal tragedies, reinforcing the importance of unity and care within the team. “But thank God the chairman is doing his best. He adds his own resources to make sure the players are well fed.”
Despite external challenges, Deutsch insists the team remains focused and disciplined. He acknowledged the presence of individuals with selfish interests but urged the squad to stay calm and concentrated on football. “There are people with selfish interests around the team, but we are calm.”
In a direct appeal to supporters, Deutsch called on Abia State fans to stand firmly behind the club and shield it from unnecessary distractions. He reminded them of Enyimba’s proud history, including being double CAF Champions League winners, achieved through discipline and collective effort. “Enyimba are double CAF Champions League champions. The people who made this happen had discipline.”
As the club works to rebuild its squad, Deutsch urged fans to unite and demand an end to disruptive influences.
