Ahmed Musa, Kano Pillars forward and General Manager, has declared his confidence that the club will avoid relegation in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, following a crucial 1-0 victory over Warri Wolves. The win, secured on Sunday, 10 May 2026, at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofor Mata, Kano, lifted the Sai Masu Gida side to 11th position on the league table with one match remaining. Rabiu Ali’s 45th-minute penalty proved decisive in the tense Matchday 37 encounter, giving Kano Pillars a vital three points in their fight to stay in the top flight.
Musa, who also serves as the club’s General Manager, spoke to reporters after the game, expressing his unwavering belief in the team’s ability to survive the relegation battle. “I’ve said this over and over again from the beginning of the season that Kano Pillars won’t go down,” the former Super Eagles captain stated. He emphasized that with one game left, the team would continue to fight until the final whistle. Kano Pillars will travel to face Plateau United in their final fixture of the season, scheduled for the following Sunday.
The victory marked a significant turnaround for Kano Pillars, who have struggled at times during the season. Musa acknowledged his own limited playing time earlier in the campaign, attributing it to persistent injury issues. “Yeah, you know that even before the start of the current season, I had been dealing with a series of injuries. But now, I’m okay,” he explained. His return to full fitness has been a boost for the team, both on and off the pitch, as he continues to lead the club through its challenging season.
In addition to his on-field role, Musa made a heartfelt appeal to Kano Pillars’ fans and supporters. He urged them to remain steadfast in their backing, reminding them that football is decided in 90 minutes. “Like I’ve always urged them, let them continue supporting and praying for us,” he said. “At the end of the day, we’ll see what happens. Let them continue supporting us; we won’t disappoint them. So, let us wait until the final game.”
The result against Warri Wolves has reignited hopes for Kano Pillars’ survival, and the team now enters their final match with renewed determination. As the NPFL season reaches its climax, all eyes will be on Kano Pillars and their mission to stay in the top tier. The outcome of their match against Plateau United could determine their fate, and Musa’s leadership will be key in guiding the club through this decisive moment.
