Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North-West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed three terrorists during a fighting patrol in Zamfara State, marking a significant blow to insurgent activities in the North-West region. The operation, conducted on Thursday, May 7, targeted terrorist hideouts in Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas. The military confirmed the successful engagement after troops encountered armed insurgents at Doumbourum Village, where a fierce firefight broke out. The troops, using superior firepower, overpowered the attackers and neutralized three terrorists, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to restrict terrorist movements and disrupt their operations in Zamfara and surrounding areas. The military reported no casualties among its personnel during the encounter, underscoring the professionalism and tactical precision of the troops. The seized items include one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally fabricated handgun, seven rifle magazines, and 571 rounds of ammunition.
