VeryDarkMan Raises Alarm Over Alleged Detention of Ratel Member Livinus

Activist VeryDarkMan has raised serious concerns over the alleged abduction of fellow activist Livinus Nwosu, who reportedly went missing after being intercepted by armed men during voter sensitisation activities in Bayelsa State. The incident, which occurred while Nwosu was leading efforts to help residents obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), has sparked widespread alarm and calls for urgent investigation. His wife reportedly contacted VeryDarkMan and members of the Ratel Movement after being unable to reach or locate him, adding to the growing anxiety surrounding the case.

According to online reports, Nwosu was taken by masked men dressed in black while conducting voter education in a community. The abduction is believed to have taken place in public, a detail that has drawn attention to the brazen nature of the incident. VeryDarkMan, in a series of social media posts, alleged that the attack may be linked to Nwosu’s campaign to discourage vote-buying and promote civic engagement among young Nigerians. He described the campaign as a direct challenge to political practices that rely on bribes and manipulation.

VeryDarkMan further accused the Bola Tinubu administration of attempting to silence youth activism and suppress grassroots mobilisation. He stated that the government’s actions are aimed at intimidating citizens and diverting attention from ongoing voter education efforts. “They have seen that the youths are very active and the youths really want to get their PVC and they’re ready to vote,” he said, adding that the abduction is meant to scare people and distract them from their civic duties.

The activist vowed to engage Bayelsa State security agencies for clarification and promised to send a lawyer to the state to support legal action if necessary. He emphasized that awareness campaigns will continue despite threats, stating, “Gone are the days when you’ll just go give people 5K Naira and bag of rice for them to vote for you, no.” He also criticized President Tinubu, saying, “You have failed. You have failed to protect the lives of the citizens of Nigeria. You don’t deserve a second chance.”

As of now, no official statement has been released by security agencies or state authorities regarding Nwosu’s whereabouts or the circumstances of his disappearance. The incident remains unverified, but it has ignited public concern over the safety of civic activists and the need for transparency in security matters. Many Nigerians are urging authorities to act swiftly and ensure justice is served. The case underscores the growing tension between youth-led civic movements and perceived government attempts to stifle dissent, raising questions about the protection of human rights and democratic participation in Nigeria.
