A Nigerian man has staged a public protest outside the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat in Abuja, demanding recognition and compensation for his alleged sacrifices during the party’s 2023 general election campaigns. The man, dressed in an APC-branded blue shirt, carried a placard reading, “Reward me or kill me,” and expressed deep distress over being left without support after reportedly selling his house to fund his campaign work. The incident, captured in a video that began circulating on Facebook on Thursday night and later spread widely on 𝕏, shows him pacing near the secretariat entrance, shouting his grievances as security personnel and bystanders watched.
He claimed he sold his property to settle debts he believed he owed the party due to his extensive involvement in its election activities. When questioned by onlookers about who sent him, he pointed to his APC shirt and insisted, “These are the people that sent me.” His emotional appeal highlighted the personal cost of his political loyalty, stating, “This is the work I did for APC and at the end of it, no reward. Rather, the CSO threatened to shoot me and nothing will happen.” The man also revealed that he had handed over his children to the party’s Chief Security Officer because he could no longer afford their school fees. “Since yesterday, my children, I don’t know where they are. I dropped my children with the CSO and APC because I cannot take care of them again. I cannot pay school fees anymore,” he said.
The placard he held carried a powerful message: “All Progressives Congress. Reward me or kill me. I’m a party man and not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I am depressed and my health is affected.” The roughly 30-second video shows him visibly shaken, moving restlessly around the gate as he pleads for justice. Despite the intensity of his protest, no APC official was seen engaging with him during the footage. The party had not released any official statement on the matter by the time this report was filed.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media, raising questions about the treatment of party loyalists and the support structures available to grassroots campaign workers. Many Nigerians have expressed concern over the man’s mental and physical well-being, while others have called for accountability and transparency from the APC leadership. As the story continues to circulate, it underscores the human cost behind political campaigns and the need for political parties to address the welfare of those who contribute to their success. The APC’s response—or lack thereof—will likely shape public perception of its commitment to its supporters in the coming days.
