Veteran Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo has publicly criticized President Bola Tinubu over Nigeria’s worsening security crisis, accusing political leaders of being disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary citizens. In a viral video shared widely across social media platforms, Dokubo highlighted the stark contrast between the heavily secured lifestyles of government officials and the daily dangers endured by average Nigerians. She pointed out that while leaders travel in armored vehicles with armed escorts, ordinary people live in constant fear of kidnappings, violent attacks, and other forms of insecurity.
Dokubo’s comments come amid rising concerns over security across Nigeria, particularly following the recent abduction of students in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. She emphasized that families affected by such tragedies need more than words or symbolic gestures—they need real protection and immediate action. “You live a great life. You’re driving armored vehicles escorted on both sides by armed security men. Your children are not anywhere around us. And even the ones who are, they’re just as protected. But not us ordinary Nigerians,” she stated in the video, underscoring the inequality in security provision.
She expressed deep concern for the kidnapped children and their grieving families, questioning the appropriateness of political leaders offering parables or metaphors while children are in distress. “How can you be giving parables when children are in tears? May no parent go through this fear of knowing that they may be the ones to bury their children,” she pleaded. Her words resonated with many Nigerians who have witnessed the growing insecurity in their communities, especially in rural areas where farmers are frequently targeted and displaced.
Dokubo also spoke out for the agricultural sector, urging leaders to show empathy and take concrete steps to protect farmlands. “The farmers who lose their farmlands daily do not need your distance. They need empathy and they need action. They need you to be able to protect the land,” she said. Her message reflects a broader frustration among Nigerians who feel that security policies are not effectively addressing the root causes of violence and instability.
The actress concluded by calling on the federal government to intensify its efforts in tackling insecurity, warning that the crisis continues to deepen and affect communities nationwide. Her public statement has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many citizens echoing her sentiments and demanding urgent reforms. As Nigeria grapples with rising insecurity, Dokubo’s voice adds to the growing chorus calling for leadership that is not only visible but also accountable and responsive to the people’s suffering.
