Abia Warriors technical adviser Imama Amapakabo has declared his team fully prepared for the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League season, emphasizing the importance of a strong start to build momentum. The former Super Eagles assistant coach stressed that the opening weeks of the campaign are critical, likening the 38-game season to a 400-metre race where the first nine matches represent the crucial first 100 metres. With 114 points available in total, he highlighted that the initial 27 points on offer could set the tone for the entire season.
Amapakabo told the club’s media that claiming they are unprepared would be unthinkable, and he believes Abia Warriors are as ready as possible for the challenges ahead. He explained that players and staff have discussed the significance of beginning with a win, reinforcing the mindset needed to succeed. “It’s always important to start on a good footing,” he said, adding that the team must demonstrate their readiness from day one.
The new season kicks off for Abia Warriors with a home fixture against Kun Khalifat FC on Sunday. Amapakabo is eager to see how well his players have absorbed his coaching philosophy, particularly in execution and coordination during attacking plays.
