BBNaijas Saga Adeolu Opens Up About Discomfort with Kiss Scenes in Movies

Nollywood actor Saga Adeolu has opened up about his discomfort with on-screen kissing scenes, revealing he would avoid them if given the choice, during a recent episode of the Nolly Icons podcast. The reality TV star and film actor emphasized that contrary to public perception, most actors do not enjoy performing romantic scenes, especially those involving physical intimacy. He explained that such moments are typically executed for the sake of storytelling and to maintain authenticity in character portrayals, not for personal pleasure.

Saga shared that despite appearing in numerous romantic films, he has never had what he considers a genuine or satisfying on-screen kiss. “It is not easy to kiss another actor. It is weird. I have not really had any good onscreen kiss. It is weird having people invade your mouth with saliva,” he said. He further elaborated that the experience often feels unnatural and uncomfortable, especially when multiple scenes are shot in quick succession. “There was a day I kissed four different girls on set,” he recalled, highlighting the physical and emotional toll such scenes can take on performers.

He stressed that actors should be given more respect and understanding for their work in these situations, rather than being judged or criticized. “It is not something we enjoy. People think we enjoy it, but we don’t. We are just doing it for the story most times,” he added. His comments shed light on the often-overlooked challenges actors face behind the camera, particularly in romantic or dramatic productions where intimacy is required for narrative effect.

Saga’s remarks come at a time when discussions about authenticity and actor well-being in Nollywood are gaining traction. His candidness has sparked conversations on social media, with many fans expressing empathy for the physical and emotional demands of acting in romantic roles. The actor’s perspective offers a rare glimpse into the private struggles of performers who often put their comfort aside for the sake of their craft.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, controversial Nigerian cleric Pastor Chukwuemeka Odumeje has once again drawn attention with his bold statements on self-worth and social media behavior. Speaking during a recent sermon, he urged people to maintain confidence regardless of their struggles, warning against using hardship as a tool for public sympathy. “I’m sweeter than sugar and saccharine. Never look like what you are passing through, your enemy will be happy,” he declared. He criticized those who post emotional content online to gain attention, saying it can be exploited by others. His message has ignited mixed reactions, with some praising his confidence and others questioning the appropriateness of his advice.

Saga Adeolu’s revelations underscore the need for greater empathy and recognition of the challenges faced by actors in Nollywood, especially in intimate scenes that are often misunderstood by audiences. As the industry continues to evolve, conversations like these may help shape more respectful and supportive practices on set.
