A former Commissioner for Religious Affairs in Zamfara State, Abdullahi Maharazu Mafara, has narrowly escaped death after being shot in the leg by suspected bandits during an ambush on his vehicle. The attack occurred on Saturday as he travelled from Talata Mafara to Gusau to attend an All Progressives Congress (APC) meeting. Gunmen ambushed the vehicle along the route and opened fire, striking the cleric during the assault. Despite the violence, Mafara survived and was rushed to a medical facility for urgent treatment.
