Nollywood veteran Rita Edochie has once again criticized her nephew’s ex-wife, Judy Austin, following Judy’s recent comments about her ex-husband, Obasi, and the breakdown of their marriage. The latest exchange comes after Judy claimed in a social media post that certain individuals were paid to speak negatively about her and deliberately destroy her marriage. In response, Rita Edochie took to her platform to challenge Judy’s narrative, questioning the very foundation of the relationship she once called her own.
Rita’s sharp rebuttal centered on the idea that Judy’s current home was built on the pain and suffering of another woman—Queen May Yul Edochie, Obasi’s former wife. She questioned who exactly was paid to break up May’s home, which she described as a peaceful, loving, and harmonious family built on commitment and sacrifice. Rita emphasized that Judy had entered the relationship through what she called “the window,” positioning herself as a destructive force in a marriage that had stood strong for years.
She expressed deep disappointment over the growing online support for Judy, especially as critics continue to mock and ridicule Obasi for speaking out about his experience. Rita accused many people of losing their moral compass, siding with what she sees as injustice over truth. She pointed out the hypocrisy of those who demand Obasi apologize to his ex-wife and her family before being allowed to see his children, asking what exactly he should apologize for—expressing his pain, telling his side of the story, or refusing to remain silent?
Rita urged people to walk in Obasi’s shoes before judging him, highlighting how easy it is to mock someone’s pain when you’re not carrying the same burden. She accused supporters of Judy of distorting truth for personal gain, likening their actions to calling a black charcoaled pot white. She warned that those who defend Judy while silencing Obasi are, in essence, complicit in polygamy, dehumanization, adultery, and injustice.
She also criticized the selective morality she sees in society—where empathy and fairness are preached only when they align with personal narratives. Rita concluded by wishing that no one would ever have to experience Obasi’s pain firsthand, but if they do, she hopes they won’t mock those who cry out for justice. The ongoing public feud continues to draw attention, with fans and followers divided on social media, and the conversation likely to remain a topic of national interest in Nigeria’s entertainment and social discourse.
