Nigerian singer Brymo has made explosive revelations during a recent interview on the NotJustOk podcast, claiming that music icon 2Baba once directly asked his then-wife, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, if she had ever been intimate with him during a 2019 meeting. The incident, which Brymo described as deeply unsettling, took place at Naomi’s office in Lekki Phase 1, where he alleges 2Baba looked him in the eye and asked, “Annie, you don f**k Brymo?” Brymo said he still harbours resentment over the moment, calling it a painful memory he will never forgive.
In the same interview, Brymo opened up about his past relationships with married women, admitting that he had been involved with several older women who claimed to be separated from their husbands. He warned younger artistes to avoid such entanglements, stressing that they can lead to serious and dangerous consequences. “I met quite a number of older women who were truly married but they would tell me they were separated from their husbands. This goes to younger artistes, stop sleeping with people’s wives. They will cut your life short,” he said.
Brymo recounted a specific incident where a woman he believed was divorced invited him to perform at her younger sister’s wedding. He accepted the invitation and performed at the event, only to be shocked later when she told him her husband would also be present at a family gathering where he was to perform again. “She said ‘our Baba will be there’. I said, your dad? She was like no, my husband,” Brymo recalled. He described the situation as a “crazy ritual,” feeling he was exposing himself to danger by performing in front of the husband of the woman he was seeing.
The singer emphasized that his experiences taught him valuable lessons about boundaries and the risks of romantic involvement with married individuals. He expressed regret over his past choices and urged fellow artistes to be cautious and mindful of the potential fallout. Brymo’s revelations have sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many reacting to the candid nature of his confession.
As the conversation continues, Brymo’s story serves as a cautionary tale for young entertainers navigating relationships in the public eye. His words may influence how future generations of Nigerian artistes approach personal and romantic decisions in an industry often marked by scrutiny and scandal.
