Nollywood actress Cynthia Anijekwu is appealing for financial assistance from Nigerians as she battles cancer for the second time, revealing that the disease has spread to her bones and is now requiring more intensive and costly treatment. The actress, who was first diagnosed with cancer in 2023, underwent surgery and completed chemotherapy, but the illness has returned and worsened. In a heartfelt video shared online, Anijekwu disclosed that recent medical tests confirmed the cancer has metastasized, making her current treatment more complex and expensive.
She explained that she has been frequently admitted to the hospital and now spends over ₦600,000 monthly on medical care. Doctors have recommended radiation therapy and another surgery to manage the progression of the disease. The financial strain on her family has become overwhelming, prompting her to reach out to the public for help. “I have cancer. I did my surgery and took chemotherapy, but later it came back again. I’ve been in and out of the hospital. The doctor recently told me it has reached my bones, and the treatment is now much more expensive,” she said in the video.
Anijekwu also shared that the cancer has affected both of her breasts and has caused swelling in one of her hands. Despite the physical and emotional toll, she remains determined to fight for her life. “I need to live. I need to survive. I’m asking Nigerians to please help me. Anyone that can help, please, I need help,” she pleaded.
