VeryDarkMan Urges Tinubu to Act on Oyo School Kidnapping Crisis, Appeals to Save Children

Nigerian social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies to act swiftly on the kidnappers’ demands following the abduction of dozens of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State. The appeal comes after a new video surfaced online showing some of the victims still in captivity, more than three weeks after the violent attack on May 15, 2026. The incident, which targeted three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, has sparked nationwide outrage and renewed calls for urgent government intervention to secure the safe release of the hostages.

The abductors stormed Community High School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in a coordinated morning raid, taking 46 people hostage. Among them are 39 pupils—some as young as two years old—and seven teachers. The situation worsened when a separate video allegedly showed the killing of mathematics teacher Michael Oyedokun while in captivity, with another teacher reportedly killed during the initial attack. These developments have intensified public fear and anger over the government’s response to the crisis.

VDM’s call to action was prompted by an emotional video featuring Rachael Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, who appeared in captivity pleading for immediate government intervention. In the video, she clarified that the kidnappers are not demanding money, weapons, or the introduction of Sharia law, as widely reported online. Instead, she stated that the group is seeking the release of certain individuals currently held in correctional facilities. Her message has become a focal point in the ongoing public discourse about the crisis.

Reacting to the distressing footage, VDM took to social media to express his deep concern and frustration. He directly appealed to President Tinubu and the country’s service chiefs to prioritize the safety of the abducted children and teachers. “For the sake of those poor innocent children, please President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all service chiefs consider the request and let those kids return to their parents,” he wrote, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. His message resonated widely across social media platforms, amplifying pressure on authorities to respond.

The incident has raised serious questions about the effectiveness of security measures in rural areas of Oyo State and across Nigeria. As the days pass without resolution, families of the victims remain in anguish, and the nation watches closely for any sign of progress. The government’s handling of this crisis will likely influence public trust in its ability to protect citizens, especially vulnerable children and educators. The fate of the hostages remains uncertain, but the demand for swift, humane action continues to grow louder.
