Sophos Launches Comprehensive Security Testing Suite to Combat Rising Cyber Threats
Global cybersecurity leader Sophos has unveiled its new Sophos Advisory Services, introducing a comprehensive suite of security testing solutions aimed at helping organizations identify and address vulnerabilities in their cybersecurity infrastructure.
The new service package includes four specialized testing offerings designed to evaluate different aspects of organizational security: External Penetration Testing, Internal Penetration Testing, Wireless Network Penetration Testing, and Web Application Security Assessment.
This launch comes at a critical time, as the Sophos State of Ransomware 2025 report reveals that exploited vulnerabilities are the primary cause of ransomware attacks, with 65% of organizations attributing their exposure to known or unknown security gaps.
“In today’s threat landscape, even minor security weaknesses can be exploited by sophisticated adversaries,” explains Jake Dorval, senior director of Sophos Advisory Services. “Our new advisory services give organizations a strategic advantage by identifying vulnerabilities before they can be exploited, while helping meet compliance requirements and maintain stakeholder trust.”
The newly launched services, powered by Sophos X-Ops threat intelligence, include:
– External Penetration Testing: Evaluates organizational defenses against external cyber threats
– Internal Penetration Testing: Assesses security against potential insider threats and post-breach scenarios
– Wireless Network Penetration Testing: Examines Wi-Fi infrastructure security and compliance
– Web Application Security Assessment: Identifies vulnerabilities in web-based applications
These services are delivered by a specialized team of security experts who joined Sophos through its recent Secureworks acquisition. The team comprises professionals with diverse backgrounds in security research, threat intelligence, law enforcement, and military operations, collectively holding hundreds of security certifications and demonstrating their expertise through achievements in capture the flag competitions.
Sophos plans to expand its Advisory Services portfolio in the coming months. This launch complements the company’s existing security services, including Sophos Emergency Incident Response – a rapid-response service that combines expertise from both Sophos and Secureworks to address active security incidents through an hourly billing model.
By integrating advanced threat intelligence with practical security testing, Sophos aims to help organizations build stronger defenses against the evolving landscape of cyber threats while meeting regulatory requirements and maintaining stakeholder confidence.
