Grealish Finds Form as Crucial Goal Secures Everton’s Victory at Bournemouth

Everton manager David Moyes has defended Jack Grealish’s contributions to the team after the on-loan Manchester City winger netted the decisive goal in Tuesday’s 1-0 triumph over Bournemouth.

The 30-year-old England international, who joined Everton on a temporary basis in August, broke through with a deflected shot in the 78th minute, marking only his second goal for the club. The winning strike came after a period of mixed performances, during which Grealish had managed just one goal in his first 14 appearances for the Toffees.

Speaking after the match, Moyes expressed satisfaction with Grealish’s development at the club, playfully noting that the match-winner might have been credited as an own goal by Bournemouth’s Bafode Diakite. “I think the biggest thing for Jack is that he is getting plenty of game time at the moment. He is doing really well for us, whether it be assists or goalscoring,” Moyes commented.

The manager highlighted the positive reception Grealish has received from Everton supporters while acknowledging his desire to see more goals from the former Aston Villa star. “I want him to score more goals. I keep telling him, ‘Your assists are good but I want more goals,'” Moyes revealed.

Grealish’s career has seen significant shifts since his high-profile move to Manchester City in 2021, where he secured both Premier League and Champions League honors. However, his time at City was marked by inconsistency, injury concerns, and off-field headlines about his social activities, ultimately leading to reduced playing time under Pep Guardiola.

The midfielder has openly expressed his contentment at Everton, particularly praising his relationship with Moyes. “I love the manager to pieces. I have only known him for a few months and I can’t speak highly enough of him as a person and how he makes me feel,” Grealish stated, adding with characteristic humor about his goals, “I have scored two goals now this season, one was a tackle and one was a deflection, but I got hammered for years for not scoring so I am taking both of the goals.”

The victory at Bournemouth not only highlighted Grealish’s growing influence at Everton but also demonstrated the positive impact of his loan move, despite the modest goal return thus far.
