CAF Awards 2025 Set for Historic Return to Rabat
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that Rabat, Morocco, will host the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony on Tuesday, November 19, at 7 p.m. local time. The prestigious event will celebrate the continent’s most exceptional football talents across multiple categories.
Nigerian football stars are poised to make a strong showing at the ceremony. Current African Player of the Year Victor Osimhen leads Nigeria’s contingent as he seeks to defend his title. The country’s representation extends to Stanley Nwabali, competing for Goalkeeper of the Year, and Daniel Bameyi, vying for Young Player of the Year. In the women’s categories, Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo are nominated for Women’s Player of the Year, while Chiamaka Nnadozie contends for the goalkeeper award.
Host nation Morocco dominates the nominations, with representatives from domestic clubs RS Berkane and AS FAR, alongside prominent coaches Walid Regragui and Tarik Sektioui. The men’s Player of the Year category features ten elite footballers, including Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Napoli’s Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Tottenham’s Pape Matar Sarr, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi.
The women’s competition sees Nigeria’s Super Falcons competing against Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses and South Africa’s Banyana Banyana for the National Team of the Year award. In club competitions, Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens FC features in the Women’s Club of the Year category, while powerhouses like Mamelodi Sundowns, ASEC Mimosas, and RS Berkane headline the men’s nominations.
This marks Rabat’s first time hosting the CAF Awards since 2022, reinforcing Morocco’s growing influence in African football administration. The live ceremony will bring together the continent’s football leadership, legendary players, and officials to honor excellence across all aspects of African football.
The event promises to be a landmark celebration of African football’s achievements, recognizing both established stars and emerging talents who have contributed to the sport’s development across the continent.
