Queen of Nollywood Returns: Iyabo Ojo Back Home After Grandmotherly Duties in Canada
Beloved Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has finally touched down in Nigeria after spending over a month abroad on ‘Omugo’ duties, celebrating and caring for her first grandchild. The actress was spotted at the airport wearing a stylish black ensemble, accompanied by fellow screen star Toyin Abraham.
The grandmother’s return marks the end of an eventful period that began with the joyous arrival of her grandson, Prince Raheem Ayomide Mkambala, born to her daughter Priscilla and Tanzanian husband Juma Jux in Canada on August 24th. The new addition to the family recently celebrated his 40-day milestone with a gathering in Tanzania, where both families came together in celebration.
Throughout her time away, Iyabo has been the epitome of a doting grandmother, putting her bustling Lagos life on hold to support her daughter through pregnancy and early motherhood. In a touching tribute, Priscilla praised her mother as “the best grandma in the world,” acknowledging how Iyabo had temporarily stepped away from her business and career to provide invaluable support.
The journey has been particularly meaningful for Iyabo, who had previously made headlines at Priscilla’s baby shower with her emotional declaration that her daughter’s marriage would succeed where hers hadn’t. “I have paid the price for Priscilla to have a happy and long-lasting home,” she had stated, demonstrating her unwavering support for her daughter’s happiness.
Fans flooded social media with warm welcome messages for their beloved “Queen Mother.” One follower, aminasadamu, exclaimed “Iyabo otin bo. Welcome back, Queen Mother,” while another, shiwokuqueen, wrote, “Welcome back, my beautiful, amazing Queen mother.”
Looking ahead, Iyabo has already announced plans for a grand naming ceremony in Lagos, promising to celebrate her grandson’s arrival with the fanfare it deserves. After initially hesitating to have a baby shower due to social media attention, she embraced the celebrations, stating that “God’s blessing shouldn’t be hidden.”
The actress shared heartwarming moments from her time away, including an adorable video of herself and Juma’s mother dancing with their grandchild in matching outfits when Prince Raheem turned one month old, showing how the two families have bonded over their shared joy.
