However, Yiaga Africa, a prominent election monitoring organization, has raised concerns about potential voter apathy. In a pre-election statement issued Thursday, signed by Asmau Maikudi, chair of the 2025 Anambra Election Observation Mission, and Samson Itodo, executive director, the organization predicted voter turnout could fall below 20%.
The statement highlighted a “relatively passive” political atmosphere and widespread voter disengagement, particularly among young people. Yiaga Africa cited prevalent distrust in the electoral process across communities and warned that low turnout could undermine the election’s legitimacy.
In response to these concerns, Yiaga Africa has called on all stakeholders, including political parties, INEC, and security agencies, to implement immediate measures to restore public confidence and encourage greater voter participation in this crucial democratic exercise.
