Amaechi Rules Out Vice Presidential Slot, Declares 2027 Presidential Ambition

Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has firmly dismissed suggestions that he is being considered for a vice presidential position ahead of the 2027 general election. He stated that he is not seeking to be a running mate to any aspirant.

The clarification follows claims by an associate of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who hinted that Amaechi could be an option for the vice presidential slot if certain negotiations fall into place.

In a statement issued by his media aide, David Iyofor, Amaechi reiterated that his focus is on contesting for the presidency and that the next Nigerian president should emerge from the southern region. He emphasized that he is committed to pursuing his ambition on the platform of the African Democratic Congress.

According to Iyofor, Amaechi has no intention of withdrawing for any candidate and remains determined to participate fully in the presidential primaries. He added that Amaechi is prepared to serve a single term if elected, in line with his long-held position on power rotation.
