Ondo State Unveils Massive Infrastructure Development Plan, Appoints New Monarchs

In a significant move to boost infrastructure development, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has given the green light for an extensive road construction and rehabilitation project spanning 101 kilometers across the state’s three senatorial districts.

According to Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, the State Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, the ambitious plan encompasses 66.421 kilometers of new road construction and 34.615 kilometers of rehabilitation work. Key projects include the Omotosho–Igbotako–Iju-Odo road in Okitipupa, Danjuma–Bolajoko road in Akure, and the College Road–Irewole project in Igbokoda.

The infrastructure initiative extends beyond road development. The state government has also approved the construction of a 216-bed hostel at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko, addressing the accommodation needs of corps members serving in the state.

Additionally, plans include the construction of a new two-story building for the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission. Several government facilities will undergo renovation, including offices of the Hospital Management Board, Teaching Service Commission, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Ministries of Water Resources, Women Affairs and Lands and Housing.

In a separate development, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, announced the appointment of three new traditional rulers. Prince Emmanuel Adetutu Ifasole will serve as the Akinuwa of Ipindo in Ondo West Local Government Area, Prince Bamikole Adeyefa as the Elemure of Emure-Ile in Owo Local Government Area, and Prince Akintoye Felix Adeoye as the Oloke of Okeigbo in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area. The council has also established a six-member Warrant Chiefs Committee for the Olojoda Chieftaincy Stool.

Information and Orientation Commissioner Mr. Idowu Ajanaku emphasized that these initiatives reflect Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to comprehensive state development. “This government is focused on projects that touch lives directly. Governor Aiyedatiwa is determined to deliver visible results through massive infrastructure renewal,” he stated.
