Street Football Tournament Showcases Anambra’s Rising Stars with N10M Prize Pool

A groundbreaking street football competition in Awka has highlighted emerging soccer talents in Anambra State, with Peace Warriors clinching the inaugural Tiger Street Football Tournament championship and a N5 million grand prize.

The tournament, which concluded last month, saw Peace Warriors triumph over Peace Ambassadors in a thrilling 4-1 penalty shootout victory. Patrick Onyebuchi emerged as the standout performer, earning the Most Valuable Player award after scoring a hat-trick in the final match and providing an impressive 25 assists throughout the tournament.

Chikelue Iloenyosi, Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (FA), hailed the competition as a catalyst for discovering hidden talents in the state, drawing parallels to the humble beginnings of today’s football legends.

The prize distribution reflected the tournament’s significant investment in grassroots football development, with runners-up Peace Ambassadors receiving N3 million. Peace Dominion FC and Sunday Sparks FC, finishing third and fourth respectively, each earned N1 million.
