Indigenous Energy Giant to Showcase African Success Story at AEW 2025
Leading African energy company Heirs Energies is preparing to demonstrate its industry leadership at the upcoming Africa Energy Week 2025, scheduled for September 29 to October 2 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The company will be represented by two of its top executives – Chief Executive Officer Osa Igiehon and Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer Sam Nwanze – who will join other global energy stakeholders to discuss the continent’s energy landscape and future directions.
Igiehon is slated to participate in two key sessions during the conference. On September 30, he will share insights during the “Frontier Plays Within Africa’s Mature Basins” discussion, where he will highlight how African companies can revitalize aging assets. His presentation will focus on Heirs Energies’ successful transformation of OML 17, which has become a model for African-operated energy facilities.
The following day, October 1, Igiehon will contribute to the Republic of Congo Roundtable, offering valuable perspectives from Nigeria’s energy sector experience. The session aims to help emerging energy regions accelerate their development through effective management of existing fields, community partnerships, and strategies to attract investment.
“We’ve demonstrated that Africa’s mature and frontier assets have significant potential,” Igiehon stated, emphasizing the company’s achievements. “Our success with OML 17 proves that indigenous operators can create value in assets others considered past their prime, provided they implement proper governance, embrace innovation, and execute effectively at the local level.”
The participation of Heirs Energies at AEW 2025 represents a significant moment for African-owned energy companies, showcasing their growing capability to compete and excel in the global energy sector. Their presence underscores the increasing role of indigenous African companies in shaping the continent’s energy future.
