Education Takes Center Stage at Idemili-South’s Independence Day Celebration
Local Government Chairman Champions Educational Development Through Free School Supplies Initiative
During the 65th Independence Day celebration at Ojoto council headquarters, Dr. Amaka Obi, Chairman of Idemili-South Local Government, reinforced her dedication to advancing education in the region through a significant distribution of school supplies.
The celebration, marked by vibrant cultural dance performances from primary and secondary school students, served as a platform to showcase the positive impacts of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s free education policy in state-run schools.
Dr. Obi distributed complimentary educational materials, including school bags, books, and writing supplies, to numerous institutions across the region. Beneficiary schools included Isu Primary School Oba, Ezike Central School Ahuda Nnobi, Community Central School Nnobi, and several others throughout Idemili-South.
“This initiative aligns with Governor Soludo’s vision that children represent our state’s future,” Dr. Obi explained, emphasizing how the free education policy has made schooling accessible to children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The chairman’s commitment extends beyond education, encompassing infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and healthcare delivery across Idemili-South’s communities. Her administration’s impact has garnered praise from various community leaders, including Dr. Tony Ezika, emeritus chairman of Idemili-North and Idemili-South Local Government Areas.
Hon. Valentine Mbadiugha, councilor representing Nnokwa ward, highlighted Dr. Obi’s transformative leadership, particularly noting improvements in Nnokwa community. Religious leaders, including Rev. Fr. Aloysius Okoye, Director of Information at St. Joseph Seminary School Awka-Etiti, commended her efforts in maintaining high educational standards.
Local educator Mrs. Ifeyinwa Agu praised the administration’s comprehensive approach to development, while students Master Chibuike Divine and Miss Chidiebube Ike expressed appreciation for Dr. Obi’s special attention to children’s welfare.
