CKC Onitsha Class of 2005 Returns with Million-Naira Gesture on Teachers’ Day

The Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha witnessed an emotional homecoming as its 2005 graduating class returned to mark their 20-year milestone with substantial donations and heartfelt tributes to their alma mater.

During the school’s Award and Thanksgiving Day celebration, the alumni unveiled multiple gifts, including a professional table tennis facility, sports equipment, and gymnasium apparatus aimed at enhancing students’ athletic development. The former students also presented monetary awards to their former teachers, drawing enthusiastic appreciation from the gathered community.

Dr. Chinonso Ofozoba, a distinguished academic at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and 2005 alumnus, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing how their teachers’ guidance had shaped successful careers across various sectors. “We are where we are today because of the foundation laid by our teachers,” he remarked, noting the diverse achievements of his classmates in academia, entrepreneurship, public service, and industry.

Alumni coordinator Mr. Chukwuemeka Abaikwam highlighted the group’s ongoing initiatives, including their innovative ‘One Year, One Millionaire’ program, which has already supported four alumni through million-naira grants. He credited Sir Fidelis Ikeji (KofC) for maintaining alumni cohesion since 2019 and detailed their regular charitable activities at orphanages, hospitals, and elderly homes.

The school’s Principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. Arinze Celestine Okafor, welcomed the contributions, while Mrs. Ngozi Osefo, now leading Awa Secondary School in Orumba South Local Government Area, spoke for the honored teachers, expressing profound gratitude for their former students’ success.

Chief Chijioke Ogbete, heading the 20th Anniversary Committee, pledged to establish this recognition as a tradition, emphasizing CKC’s enduring impact on their lives. The celebration concluded with entertainment and personal testimonials, embodying the school anthem’s aspiration for lasting legacy.

This initiative represents a significant example of alumni giving back to their educational roots, demonstrating the long-term impact of quality education and mentorship in shaping successful professionals who remain committed to their alma mater’s development.
