Rowdy Session in Senate as Goje Accuses Akpabio of ‘Unparliamentary Conduct’

Efforts by the Senate President to calm Goje proved unsuccessful, as the Gombe senator insisted that all senators meeting with Akpabio should return to their seats so plenary could continue.

Akpabio later explained that he had invited the senators for a brief consultation regarding an urgent assignment at the Presidential Villa scheduled for 1 p.m., which he needed to attend due to the Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem launch.

He again urged Goje to join the discussion, but Goje firmly declined.

“I don’t want to be part of it. I’m opposed to this one. I will not come. It’s unparliamentary. It’s wrong,” he said.

The disagreement held up proceedings for over 30 minutes before the Senate gradually returned to order.
