Dangote Partners Honeywell to Raise Refinery Capacity to 1.4m bpd

The Dangote Group has entered a strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc. to support a major expansion of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, aiming to increase its processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028. The move positions the Lagos-based facility to become one of the largest refining complexes in the world.

Under the new agreement, Honeywell will supply advanced catalysts, specialized equipment and upgraded process technologies. These additions are expected to boost efficiency, improve product quality and enable the refinery to process a broader range of crude grades.

Dangote is also expanding its petrochemical operations. With Honeywell’s Oleflex technology, the company plans to raise annual polypropylene production to 2.4 million metric tons, strengthening the supply base for plastics and manufacturing industries.

In the fertilizer segment, Dangote intends to scale up urea output from the current 3 million to 9 million metric tons annually by introducing four new production trains. The company says the expansion will help meet rising demand across Africa and international markets.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s energy security and promoting industrial growth through long-term investment and global partnerships.
