Gov Fintiri Distances Self from PDPs Move to Expel Wike

Adamawa Governor Opposes PDP’s Suspension of FCT Minister Wike

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has publicly rejected the recent suspension of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing his commitment to party unity and stability.

The suspension, which was initiated through a motion by Bode George, targeted not only Wike but also included the party’s national secretary Samuel Anyanwu and former member Ayodele Fayose. However, Governor Fintiri took to the social media platform X to voice his strong opposition to the decision.

“I will not be party to any attempt that could further plunge the PDP into unending crisis,” declared Fintiri in his statement, expressing concern that the expulsion could potentially harm the party’s cohesion. The Adamawa governor emphasized his dedication to maintaining peace within Nigeria’s main opposition party.

In his detailed response shared on social media, Fintiri stressed the importance of reconciliation over division. “As a faithful party member, my position is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP,” he stated, calling for all stakeholders to focus on healing internal rifts rather than deepening them.

The governor further outlined his vision for the party’s future, urging fellow members to prioritize unity and cohesion. “I urge all stakeholders to work towards healing the divisions within the party and to strive for unity,” Fintiri emphasized, reaffirming his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote stability within the PDP.

The situation highlights ongoing tensions within the PDP, as party leaders grapple with internal disagreements and the challenge of maintaining a unified opposition front. Fintiri’s stance underscores the complex dynamics at play in one of Nigeria’s major political parties as it navigates internal conflicts while attempting to maintain its political relevance.
