Soludo Casts Ballot as Anambra Elections Run Smoothly in 2025

Anambra Governor Votes, Raises Concerns Over Electoral Malpractices

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State participated in the local elections today, casting his ballot at approximately 1:15 p.m. at Polling Unit 002, Ofiyi Square in Isuofia Ward. The governor’s family, including his wife Nonye Soludo and their children, joined him at the polling station where local residents warmly welcomed their arrival.

In his post-voting remarks, Governor Soludo expressed satisfaction with the overall electoral process, highlighting the impressive voter turnout and the peaceful atmosphere at polling stations. However, he also raised several concerns about reported irregularities in certain areas of the state.

The governor specifically pointed out alleged vote-buying incidents in Nnewi South Local Government Area, where he claimed a candidate was offering voters ₦15,000 each in exchange for their support. Additionally, he reported technical issues with the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in Olumbanasa, located in Anambra West Local Government Area.

Of particular concern was Governor Soludo’s allegation that a political party had attempted to compromise the integrity of the election by bribing electoral officers and providing them with pre-written results to be submitted. Despite these challenges, he maintained optimism about both the election’s outcome and INEC’s ability to conduct a fair process.

“On the basis of one man, one vote, we’re confident of having a landslide victory. There’s no doubt about it,” the governor stated, while emphasizing his faith in the electoral commission to honor the public’s trust.

The election continues to be monitored as results are awaited from polling units across Anambra State.
